Weaving Together Culture, Connection, Tradition & Community 🧡
Every thread carries a story. Every tradition holds wisdom. Every connection strengthens community.
There is something truly beautiful about coming together. Sitting in a circle, listening to stories shared by those who came before us, learning skills that have been passed down through generations, and discovering the meaningful ways culture connects us to ourselves, one another, and the world around us.
At Stick & Stone Counselling Services, we believe that culture, identity, belonging, and community are important parts of our well-being. We also believe that traditions deserve to be honoured, stories deserve to be heard, and opportunities to learn from one another should be cherished.
It is with tremendous gratitude and excitement that we introduce Threads of Culture, a 13-session, hands-on cultural learning program designed to bring people together through Indigenous arts, traditional practices, cultural teachings, and meaningful community connections.
We are deeply honoured to welcome Indigenous Elders and Knowledge Keepers who will share their knowledge, experiences, stories, and teachings with our circle.
Through their guidance, participants will have opportunities to explore traditional skills, experience cultural practices, develop meaningful relationships, and deepen their connection to Indigenous culture and community.
Whether you are hoping to reconnect with your cultural roots, strengthen your sense of identity, learn something new, or simply experience the beauty of coming together in community, we would be honoured to welcome you.
More Than a Program. A Place to Connect, Learn & Belong.
For generations, Indigenous knowledge, traditions, and teachings have been shared through storytelling, creativity, ceremony, relationships, and time spent together.
These traditions carry more than skills. They carry history, identity, resilience, values, and wisdom.
Threads of Culture was created with the hope of providing a welcoming, culturally respectful space where people can experience the beauty of learning together while honouring the knowledge and traditions that continue to connect generations.
Throughout our 13 gatherings, participants will have opportunities to learn directly from Indigenous Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and cultural leaders through meaningful conversations, hands-on activities, shared experiences, and traditional teachings.
There is no expectation to arrive with previous experience or knowledge. We simply invite you to come with an open heart, a willingness to learn, and respect for the people and teachings being shared.
Our hope is that every participant leaves with more than a new skill. We hope they leave with meaningful memories, stronger connections, and a deeper appreciation for the traditions and teachings shared within our circle.
What Will We Explore?
Each gathering will offer opportunities to experience different aspects of Indigenous culture, creativity, traditions, and community.
Activities and teachings will be guided by our participating Elders and Knowledge Keepers and may include:
🧡 Traditional Beading & Creative Arts
Discover the beauty and meaning behind traditional beadwork while learning techniques, exploring creative expression, and creating something meaningful with your own hands.
🧡 Basket Weaving & Traditional Crafting
Experience the patience, creativity, and knowledge involved in traditional crafting practices while learning skills that have been shared across generations.
🧡 Storytelling & Cultural Teachings
Gather with Indigenous Elders and Knowledge Keepers to listen, learn, and reflect as they share stories, lived experiences, cultural knowledge, and teachings.
🧡 Traditional Ceremonies & Cultural Practices
Where appropriate and guided by Elders and cultural protocols, participants may have opportunities to learn about and experience traditional practices, including participation in a sweat lodge ceremony.
🧡 Connection to Land, Identity & Community
Explore the meaningful relationships between culture, identity, the land, and community through shared experiences, conversations, and culturally grounded teachings.
🧡 Creativity, Conversation & Connection
Enjoy opportunities to connect with others, build friendships, share experiences, and experience the joy of learning together in a supportive community setting.
Specific activities and ceremonial experiences will be determined in collaboration with our participating Elders and Knowledge Keepers, respecting the traditions, teachings, and protocols associated with each experience.
Honouring the Wisdom of Our Elders
One of the most meaningful aspects of Threads of Culture is the opportunity to learn directly from Indigenous Elders and Knowledge Keepers.
We recognize that the knowledge they carry is invaluable.
Their stories, teachings, experiences, and traditional skills represent generations of wisdom, cultural knowledge, and connection.
We are incredibly grateful for their willingness to join our circle, share their experiences, and help create opportunities for others to learn, reconnect, and grow.
At Stick & Stone Counselling Services, we believe that listening is one of the most meaningful ways we can show respect.
Through Threads of Culture, our role is to create a welcoming and supportive environment where Indigenous voices, knowledge, and leadership are honoured, and where participants can experience the importance of learning through relationships.
Because when stories are shared, connections grow. When knowledge is passed forward, traditions continue. And when people come together, community becomes stronger.
A Space Where Everyone Matters
At Stick & Stone Counselling Services, our mission has always been simple:
To be a light in the world and create a place where no one feels alone.
Threads of Culture is another meaningful way we hope to bring that vision to life.
We recognize that every person's relationship with culture and identity is unique.
For some, this program may provide an opportunity to reconnect with traditions, teachings, or cultural practices that have been part of their family history.
For others, it may be an opportunity to strengthen existing connections, discover new skills, or deepen their understanding and appreciation of Indigenous cultures.
Whatever brings you to our circle, we hope you experience kindness, respect, connection, and belonging.
There is no pressure to know everything, share personal experiences, or participate in activities beyond your comfort level.
We simply hope to create a space where people feel welcome to learn, listen, create, and connect.
A place where stories are heard.
Where traditions are honoured.
Where friendships are formed.
And where meaningful connections are woven together, one gathering at a time.

Every Thread Has a Place. Every Story Deserves to Be Honoured.
Some of life's most meaningful moments happen when we come together.
Around a table. In a circle. Through a shared story, a new skill, a thoughtful conversation, or the simple experience of being welcomed into community.
Our hope is that Threads of Culture becomes a place where those moments can happen.
A place where Indigenous traditions are respected, cultural knowledge is shared, relationships are nurtured, and participants have opportunities to connect with something meaningful.
We are deeply honoured to begin this journey alongside the Indigenous Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and community members who will help bring this program to life.
Come learn. Come create. Come connect.
Together, we will weave a beautiful tapestry of culture, tradition, knowledge, and community — one thread at a time.🧡
We look forward to welcoming you to Threads of Culture!
